Cynar Ricetta Originale
Created in 1949, this Italian aperitif is flavored with artichoke leaves (Cynara scolymus), from which the drink dervies its name & 12 other botanicals. Mint & eucalyptus followed by bitter molasses. Great combination follows - liquorice, vanilla, cloves, green herbs (think nettle, tarragon) & bitter radicchio. Long & warming bitter herb finish. Usually served on the rocks with a slice of orange & soda or tonic as an aperitif.
